Abstract

This paper is a review of the school patrol system by the New Zealand Educational Institute which represents teachers in approximately 2500 state and integrated primary schools throughout the country. Teachers should be able to undertake the tasks they are trained for- educating children. School committees should be empowered to appoint suitable adults to control school crossings, or a properly constituted adult supervision programme should be set up.
