Abstract

Subjects were in general not able to select a random-sequence out of a sample of non-random sequences. This finding points to be existence of some subjective concept of randomness, which is based into the direction of negative regency. An analysis of the stimulus material suggested that especially the frequency of long runs determines judged randomness of a binary sequence.
