Abstract

Providing Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) to London Bus passengersis a challenging task. The extensive bus network in London requires RTPI to be delivered to passengers through multiple channels such as bus stop display, SMS and web. A complex Intelligent Transport System (ITS) solutionis necessary to counter the challenges of this task. Although the deployment of an ITS is widely published, extracting good services from such systems is not broadly discussed. This paper discusses an approach taken by London Buses to develop a Service Model that will extract good services fromvendors to reap the benefits of an ITS.
