Abstract

The internal processing method in the vehicle surroundings monitor sensors is different from one system to another such as light and radio wave. Their functions, however, are summarized to searching free space. Therefore the sensor platform is built so that any sensors are able to process by similar method using the Bayes estimation about the existence probability of obstacle object on the occupancy grids. This paper shows that it is possible to realize the sensor platform with laser radar. Pedestrian detection using laser radar is used as an example of sensor platform.
