Abstract

This project is part of the research activities of the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens which focus on road safety and information systems. The objective of this research is to produce a first approach to user requirements for a Community Road Accidents Data Base. The aim of this research is to open the discussion for the user requirements identification on a basis which will allow to gain the most from the Community data base. The methodology used for the achievement of the objectives consists of three basic elements: 1) the theoretical approach for the user requirements for a Community data base; 2) the comparison of national general reports on road accidents statistics and 3) the formulation of conclusions and recommendations.
