Abstract

An extensive survey of international truck drivers was undertaken. The survey involved individual interviews with Dutch and foreign drivers to determine (l) How long each driver works, driver and rests per day and per week (2) How well the driver's actual ride and rest times conform with the European regulations for controlling these factors and (3)Drivers knowledge of and opinions about all articles of the pertinent regulation. Recommendations are given to modify the EEC regulations in such a way that a better work-rest relationship is guaranteed.
