With almost nine years' experience in the Portuguese transport market, Arriva looks at how its operations in the country have contributed to Arriva's development from a relative unknown to one of Europe's leading transport groups with bus, rail and coach operations in 12 countries. Arriva's first footholds in the Portuguese transport market started in November 2000 with the acquisition of four family-owned businesses, which all operated inthe north west of Portugal, and were brought together to form Arriva Portugal. This article discusses the company's Portuguese operations and its future.
