Abstract

Traffic management is a hard task for the number of constraints and targets involved. The market offers a wide range of simulation tools to work out specific problems and help the traffic engineer in the decision making process. The A.S.I.A. platform, developed within the framework of the European Esprit Project, provides an environment for the simulation tools integration aimed at supporting - in the Road Traffic Domain - the planning, design and management of actions improving the traffic conditions. The Genoa Mobility Transport and Parking directorate has been testing such platform and its impact on its traffic management methodology. This paper deals with the application of the A.S.I.A. platform in the city of Genoa and the benefits expected from a single environment where the single tools are organically integrated.
