Abstract

A quantitative physical model for the transport of alcohol in the bronchial tubes is developed. In the model a number of physiological aspects of the breath analysis are classed, from which it is expected that they influence the breath analysis. The meaning of the model is demonstrated by means of several examples. It is shown how this model can be expanded and eventually transposed in a computer model. For the experimental research a special set up for the measurement was constructed. A number of experiments is described and the results and conclusions are given. The physiological aspects of the breath analysis can influence the measured alcohol concentration. The results obtained correspond in general with the formulated model.
