Abstract
The main part of this survey covers the legal aspects of noise control in Great Britain, West Germany, Sweden, Japan and the U.S.A., with respect to general noise provisions and special provisions on air traffic and road traffic noise. Some examples of performance standards in zoning codes are mentioned. In addition the technical, health, economic and educational aspects of noise are discussed.
