Abstract

This paper presents the broadcast of extended traffic sign information by semi-passive beacons. The paper also discusses several technical and applicative aspects. This medium-range pre-information application supplements other more sophisticated Road Transport Telematics (RTT) applications quite well. The application provides positive effects on both road safety and driver comfort in the road network. Therefore, traffic sign information broadcast is proposed as an elementary building block of a future minimum driver assistance system. (A)
