Abstract

This paper provides an overview of work in Victoria which is building a transport and land use system for Melbourne based on this integrated approach. It describes Melbourne 2030, the plan for the sustainable development of Melbourne, and its associated transport planning. Melbourne 2030 is integrated, cross government and action orientated, combining a long term vision for the region with implementation actions. Transport is central to Melbourne 2030 in its own right and as it influences, or is influenced by, most policies in the Strategy. The Department of Infrastructure is developing a suite of transport actions as part of Melbourne 2030 which involves a range of policy instruments and modes. These actions are being developed to improve the liveability of the city and region. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E213376.
