Abstract

This is the second paper in the three-part series on warrants for traffic control signals. This paper treats the areas of delay and pedestrians. More than 70 studies were checked to obtain information on delay. The areas of literature reviewed are broadly classified as (1) field studies, (2) theoretical studies, and (3) the combination of field and theoretical work to develop computer simulation programs. Approximately 30 reports and studies were found which contributed to pedestrian warrants information and gap analysis. A brief summary of these results and also pedestrian accident data are included.
