Abstract

MARTA (Monitoring Attitudes towards Road Transport Automation), a cross-sectional project within the DRIVE II programme, addresses the market potential of ATT (Advanced Transport Telematics) on European inter-urban corridors. Some of the key findings of surveys on samples of end-users in the UK and Italy are focussed on here. The interrelationships between different aspects of the attitudes towards advanced information provision systems are identified and a segmentation of the market into four user groups is provided. Also, the results on willingness to pay for three information systems (RDS, TrafficMaster and Dynamic Route Guidance) and for fast toll systems are presented in detail. (A)
