Abstract

Information is the raw material of the information era. Traffic information is the raw material for traffic telematics services. In the process of gathering traffic related data there are many open questions ranging from the appropriate infrastructure for collecting traffic data to the best way of processing/modelling the collected data. The quality of information determines the appreciation by customers for these services and thereby their willingness to pay for them. In order to get a comprehensive understanding of these issues, T-Mobil, one of the leading suppliers of traffic telematics services in Germany, conducted a study on behalf of the joint venture with Mannesmann Eurokom, DDG, in which several TAMs were compared and evaluated within different scenarios.
