Abstract

This report provides an overview of current issues concerning the assessment of noise impacts from transportation projects under federal environmental assessment (EA) legislation in Canada. It provides an overview of noise assessment methodology, and highlights key challenges that Canadian practitioners are facing in adopting appropriate project thresholds for transportation-related noise increases. This report draws extensively on a report commissioned by Transport Canada, prepared by RWDI Air Inc., titled "Recommendations for a National Approach to Assessing Noise Impacts from Transportation Projects". Copies of this report are available upon request. Forthe covering abstract see ITRD E139491.
