Abstract

This paper describes and summarizes the results of work to asses the benefits that on-line computer control of signal in an underground railway bring to passengers. From a simulation study it was concluded that reduction in travel times, waiting times and overcrowding could be achieved by computer control. In the simulation, travel time was reduced by 1 minute and passenger waiting time at stations reduced by up to 11 seconds.
