Abstract

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Following-Too-Closely Monitor (FTC), a five by eight foot traffic sign and logic system that calculates vehicular time gap (the time it takes the front of a following vehicle to reach a point on the roadway that the rear of the leading vehicle just passes) and presents a message to the following motorist if the time gap is improper.
