Abstract

The Hope Anti-Jack-knife device attempts to prevent jack-knifing by using a disc brake at the coupling between the tractor and trailer to resist relative movement between them when the vehicle's brakes are applied. During tests the Hope device was found to be capable of preventing jack-knifing when the vehicle was travelling on a straight path, but not always when on a curve.
