Abstract

The aim of the Swedish KAPUBRA project is to map alcohol use, social situation, health and personality of drivers found to be under the influence of alcohol in Sweden where drink-driving is a particular problem. This paper reports on some preliminary results including a) how many suspects had alcohol problems, b) how many had severe alcohol problems, c) how did alcohol problems relate to blood alcohol content and d) are there any sex or age differences. 600 drivers answered the questionnaire of which 11% were women. The results suggest that even in lower blood alcohol content levels, alcohol problems are common.
