Abstract

This paper expands a weather-specific pretimed signal study in order to explore a weather specific actuated signal control system operating under the "wet and slushy" weather conditions defined by the FHWA. The CORSIM microscopic simulation program is used for this purpose. For each control strategy, three test scenarios are simulated and evaluated against 15 levels of demand volume along a four-intersection arterial corridor. Results are tallied and compared. The paper concludes with a summary of findings and recommendations for future research.
