Abstract

An attempt is made to place in an order of priority the countermeasures to be taken to improve road safety. There is a tendency to limit them to 3 or 4 that are so global in nature that the collectively account for the major categories of accident Patterns. French vehicle manufacturers have developed a logical working method based on accident analysis, on biomechanical experiments and on structural tests, to a achieve a ranking order for countermeasures.
