Abstract

For some time the Road and Motor Vehicle Traffic Safety Branch of the Department of Transport has been aware that seat belt legislation is a contentious issue in Canada. The present study was undertaken by the Branch in order to provide a clearer picture of not only the extent of support for seat belt legislation, but also the nature of the opposition.
