ATV-related deaths in West Virginia; 1990-2003.

Abstract

West Virginia experienced the second highest number of deaths (126) from motor vehicle accidents, but led the nation in the death rate from ATV incidents, the per capita rate of 0.70 deaths per 100,000 population was 7.7 times higher than the overall U.S. rate of 0.09. The purpose of this article is to present the most current data concerning ATV accidents available through 2003 and offer comparisons to historical data from the 1990s.
