Abstract

This user guide describes the operation and outputs of the Australasian Pedestrian Crossing Facility Selection Web Tool located at http://bit.ly/austroads_pedestrian. The tool is the product of Austroads research project NS 1912 and is fully documented in the research report AP-R472-15 Development of the Australasian Pedestrian Crossing Facility Selection Web Tool. The research report consists of eight chapters: • Chapter 1: Introduction • Chapter 2: Literature Review • Chapter 3: Gap Analysis • Chapter 4: Analysis of Community Street Review data • Chapter 5: Walkability Focus Groups • Chapter 6: Selection Tool Method • Chapter 7: Selection Tool • Chapter 8: Conclusions and Recommendations Chapter 6 of the research report fully describes the mathematical models underlying the tool, including all equations, assumptions, default values and sources of information used in the tool. This guide describes the user interface of the tool, including: • how to access the tool • the types of facilities that can and cannot be assessed • computer requirements • a quick-start guide to using the tool • a description of the usability features • inputs and outputs relating to each section of the tool • known issues and troubleshooting. This guide includes both help tips (corresponding to the help tips available in the tool) and warnings. (Author/publisher)
