Abstract

The new Traffic Management and Information Centre (TMIC) in Vienna-Inzersdorf is the heart of a trend-setting national traffic management and information system for the Austrian motor- and expressway network. The main functions are: Gathering of relevant traffic data from the entire ASFINAG network, processing and displaying in the Traffic Management and Information Centre and distribution via road side infrastructure and value added services. The traffic management and information system is the "soft" information network which ASFINAG is overlaying onto the "hard" road network, to provide safe, comfortable and high-performance transport routes.
