Abstract

This project evaluation compendium stemmed from a project with the primary aim to develop a `guide' comprising information, processes, ideas and tools related to road project and program evaluation practice suitable for Australian applications. This guide is designed specifically to complement and interlock with the methodologies, manuals, and procedures developed by Austroads member agencies, while still functioning as a general reference on evaluation as it applies to Australian roads. The compendium is designed to meet the following three objectives which relate specifically to user needs: 1. to provide a resource when selecting the most appropriate evaluation method or tool; 2. to provide guidance on how to interpret and judge results obtained from an evaluation; and 3. to provide users with a description of core concepts, measures, and methods underpinning the evaluation of road projects and related issues in Australia.
