Abstract

The author gives in the final supplementary paper a synthetic approach that rounds it all off. The Dutch long term transport plan has created a special task force for urban transport (SVV city). He shows the way in which they try to develop a comprehensive urban transport policy which is also flexible enough. That way it can stimulate but also leave each city enough room in view of its special circumstances (functions, physical characteristics etc.) that give it a specific `mobility profile'. The author also treats the most important elements of the national policy, which for him too begins with urban planning. (A)
