In this paper the authors present the early findings of a pilot case which is being developed at the Port of Trieste in the frame of the EURIDICE Integrated Project. The pilot aims at demonstrating the applicability and benefits of the Intelligent Cargo approach in typical interactions of cargowith authorities and infrastructure operators. Applied to shipments of hazelnuts coming from Turkey, the EURIDICE infrastructure allows secure access along the route to the identity, the context, the location of goods andthe related up-to-date information and to extend it with useful information-based services.
