Abstract

Automated vehicle guidance is a collective name for systems that partly or wholly take over driving tasks. In 1998, a demonstration of such systems was held in the Netherlands. The objective of Demo'98 was to increase awareness among relevant decision makers and the general public and to foster and stimulate international research into automated vehicle guidance. The paper outlines the background of Demo '98 and describes the event and the demonstrations that are part of it. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
