Abstract

Automatic Number Plate Reading (ANPR) is seen as the answer to many of today's traffic management problems, but achieving consistently accurate readings is not as easy as it first seems. Some of the problems encountered when using ANPR systems in traffic management applications are discussed in this paper. The experiences and findings of a team who have researched and developed an ANPR demonstrator are drawn upon.
