Abstract

An image processing method targeting active safety for vehicles was developed. Image processing is the most important factor because such vehicles should recognize environment around them. The key issue of the image processing is to reduce the number of calculations, so that it could be implemented on inexpensive hardware. An experimental system has been built on an ordinary PC in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The experimental result shows that it can detect passing vehicles with a fair accuracy. (A*)
