Abstract

Automatic Train Control on the Netherlands Railways. II The air brake equipment of rolling stock. After a short description of the functioning of the air brake equipment of a train and an indication of the international collaboration as far as the brake is concerned, the author gives a survey of the different problems that had to be solved and explains the functioning of the system in two cases: 1 - the driver acts correctly when a braking order is received; 2. The driver does not fulfil a braking order that is given to him by the ATC-equipment. Different methods controlling the braking action are discussed. Finally the task of the train driver under the new system is described On 1-I-1969 all rolling stock units of NS will have to be equipped with the described ATC - system.
