Abstract

Relationships between car size and body style and insurance losses are presented. Results are presented for 1977-1979 model year passenger cars for injury protection and for 1978-1980 model year cars for collision coverage. The smallest cars had the worst injury loss experience. Small subcompact and subcompact models had above average collision losses, as did full-size luxury cars.
