Abstract

The criteria of stability are examined relative to a vehicle assumed to have two degrees of freedom (lateral and yaw motions) while its forward speed and steer angle are constant. It is shown that the boundary of the stability domain can be synthesized by generating two sign definite potential functions satisfying a partial differential equation. A computer algorithm is developed to accomplish a numerical solution.
