Abstract

Automotive safety is very complex and encompasses the vehicle itself, the driver, the roads and the environment. Most of the safety features known to day cannot satisfactorily be incorporated in earlier models and it will require at least 10 years before these older vehicles are off the roads. In the meantime, if they are given proper and regular maintenance service and if the drivers will use normal caution and courtesy, the accident rate can be steadily reduced in spite of the increasing vehicle population.
