Abstract
Despite the increasing price of fuel and the problems in fuel provision the number of automobiles on the European highway can still increase considerable just as the quantity of fuel they will use in the following twenty years until 2000. But something will change. In this leaflet a number of factors which will play their role in this development, like the constellation and combination of fuels, change in technology and legislation, are discussed.
