Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2177 contains 16 papers that explore a benefit-cost analysis of airport improvements, impact of airport noise on property values, aviation emissions mitigation, air traffic analysis for forecasting, sensitivity of airline schedules to airport congestion pricing, policy implications of airline performance indicators, estimating flight delay costs, and automated measurement of wait times at airport security. This issue of the TRR also examines validation of runway capacity models; mitigating airport congestion with multimodalism; measuring delay performance in the National Airspace System; statistical characteristics of aircraft arrival tracks; impact of flight delay on air traffic flow; maintenance management of runway pavements; new materials for aircraft arrestor beds; and regional cooperation, coordination, and communication between airports during disasters.
