The European Commission has recently accepted the Baseline proposal. The aim of this project is to support Member States in collecting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Road Safety. More specific, the Member States will be assisted in the collection and harmonized reporting of KPIs. Additionally, this project will contribute to building the capacity of those Member States which have not yet collected and calculated the data for the KPIs. The consortium of the Baseline project consists of representatives from 19 EU Member States. Besides The Netherlands (SWOV), the participating EU Member States are Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. Vias institute (at https://www.vias.be/) is the coordinator of this European consortium. For the methodological guidelines, data processing and quality assurance activities, Vias institute will be assisted by SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research and NTUA (at https://www.ntua.gr/en/) (Greece). These three organizations are renown road safety research institutes in their country, as well as highly respected internationally for their expertise in road safety.
