Abstract

This paper presents a fundamental study to develop a multiband antenna with new configuration to reduce the number of antennas mounted on a vehicle. The antenna has a plane structure suited for installation on vehicles. Various intelligent transportation systems (ITS) services can be enjoyed with it. The developed antenna has a possibility of coping with the individual frequency bands, polarizations, and directivities required for GPS (Global Positioning System), SDARS (Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service), and DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range Communication). The characteristics of prototype antenna are also presented.
