Abstract

The actual performance of an electric vehicle depends on the capability of the battery to meet the power requirements of the drive train. In order to predict the vehicle operating range an accurate battery model is required. The behaviour of a battery depends on its state of charge. With models for the components of the drive train and the battery, computer simulation can be carried out tot study the interaction of battery and drive train and to predict energy use, vehicle performance and operating range. The battery model is described.
