Abstract

The river valley landscape of the River A in Drenthe province is one of the stream systems in that province. This stream landscape is one of the most valuable nature and landscape areas in the Netherlands. The province of Drenthe commissioned the Oranjewoud company to produce designs for six crossings of the valley of the River Aa and road; to be regarded as a total approach. The goal of the project is threefold. Within this area and concentrated on the six crossings of road and river, by taking suitable measures and design proposals, the aim was to: (1) Improve the crossing possibilities for wild animals; (2) Increase the recognition of the river valley landscape; and (3) to contribute to the implementation of Sustainable Safety.
