Abstract

In a quasi- experimental study the possibility to change mode choice and attitudes towards use of car and bus for commuting was investigated by means of an induced temporary behavioural change. Hypothesized was that the temporary use of the bus for commuting would lead to more use of the bus for commuting in the future and a more positive attitude towards the use. / of the bus for commuting. The conclusion is reached that mode choice for commuting is mainly a matter of habit. A temporary change in mode choice can affect this habit to some degree, but this influence wanes in the course of time. In a separate cover addenda are given.
