Abstract

The report discusses the minimum requirements with regard to intensity of illumination installations on cars during night driving in built-up areas as well as intensity of illumination above and below the limits of dark and light. Special consideration is given to questions related with the usage of halogen lamps. According to tests made a minimum light intensity of 1 cd is required. The report gives limit values of differences in light density dependent upon angle of vision, adaptation light density, etc. Failures to perceive signal lamps on account of glare and reason for it are stated in the report. Light intensities ranging from 5 to 20 cd and uniformity of the signals are recommended.
