The report describes a psychological study to (1) the amount of acceptability of different governmental measures for energy conservation by car traffic, as well as the motives to find these measures acceptable or not, and (2) the effects of different measures on the pattern of car use, to the background of the opinions of the car users as regards vehicle use, the use of energy by car and the saving of energy in car use. The main conclusion is that a voluntary conservation of energy by car traffic is not to be expected.
