Abstract

The purpose of this study was firstly to quantify the problem of alcohol and drugs in traffic accidents in relation to gender, age, social profile, pre-existing medical condition, time, type and dynamics of accident, type of vehicle(s) involved and injury severity and secondly to identify eventually populations at risk. The research findings should be useful in the development of prevention as well as legal actions in dealing with this problem. (A)
