Abstract

The patterns of injuries and fatalities in automobile accidents prevented by use of seat belts, and the application of padded instrument panels, energy absorbing steering columns, and dual brake systems are translated into dollar benefits. These benefits are in turn based on the individual's demand curve for reduced probability of injury or death. Some problems in " the evaluation are usage of seat belts, data on effectiveness and cost, protection offered by the safety devices.
