Abstract

Although benefit-cost analysis of road works has developed to the stage where it can be of considerable use to engineers, the procedures are not yet applied extensively in practice. The article presents a case for more general use of benefit-cost analysis in highway and traffic engineering through a review of basic principles and by typical worked examples.
