Abstract

This paper describes a mobile data communications system for freight transport management. It uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to provide data about vehicle location. It also has the potential to provide route planning and route guidance services to drivers. Brief details about the data collection, data transfer and the function of the fleet management centre are provided.
