As a contribution to the standardization of the ergonomic design requirements for truck driver cabins, the TNO Institute for Perception has been contracted to establish guidelines for the space required for dressing and sleeping. The activities were carried out under contract by the Directoraat-Generaal van de Arbeid. Data from literature, as well as information from interviews and observations were used for the guidelines. Additional data were used as gathered in a large-scale interview by the FNV transportation union. The guidelines include the specification of the required space for standing and dressing, the berth dimensions and the space in front of and above the bed required for easy entry.
